HOF parents dancingHave you ever paused a dance convention video midway to find out where it is so you can make sure you never miss it again? Entering into their 15th season, the directors at Hall of Fame Dance Challenge are experts at organizing events studios want to return to. Founded by parents and studio directors, Hall of Fame Dance knows the recipe for success lies in the treatment of parents and children. Clearly, this treatment is fantastic because review after review gushes with positive remarks. For instance, a recent attendee said “The competition truly is the best of the best and brings in the highest caliber of competition every year. They value all genres of dance, which is often not the case with many competitions.”

Not only is their customer service fantastic, but HOF Dance proved it’s possible to host a highly competitive convention in a fun, low-stress atmosphere. They enforce performance leagues to ensure level playing fields, and top performers receive cash prizes, as well as other awards. HOF also provides minute by minute schedules, and free viewing privileges for fans. This dance season, join thousands of other studios for a high energy event and discover what it is like to live that video you keep pausing.

Compete fairly with Performance Leagues

In an attempt to level the playing field, Hall of Fame Dance added performance leagues to both regional and national events. The Rookie League is appropriate for dancers with little to no competition experience, who dance less than 3 hours per week. Groups might place in this league if 50% or more of their dancers qualify for this level. The next level up is the National League, which is for dancers who study 3-5 hours per week, with some competition experience, but not too much.

Following National is the American League, appropriate for dancers taking 5 hours of classes per week, with substantial experience dancing in competitions. Since there is no way for the directors of the competition to know how many hours each student studies per week, it is up to the discretion of the studio owner to determine this factor. If students compete in a league that is not suitable for their skills, the judges have the power to put them into a different league.

Hall of Fame Dance age divisions and performance categories

There are five age divisions at Hall of Fame Dance and 18 performance categories. The age divisions include; Future Hall of Famers, Junior, Teen, Senior and 19 and up. The age of each dancer as of January 1st determines which age group they compete in. Also, if any dancer 20 years or older competes in a routine, the routine automatically places in the 19+ age division, regardless of the average age. Additionally, please note HOF enforces the Bump Rule which states that duos, trios and other groups of different ages cannot compete less than one age division younger than the oldest dancer, regardless of average age. However, performers in each age division are welcome to compete in a variety of performance categories ranging from Pom Pom, Ballet, to Acro-Dance. This is the perfect competition to rack up points for versatility!

Hall of Fame Dance awards and cash prizes

At each event, Hall of Fame awards the top performances, chosen by the judges. The Best in Category award goes to soloists from all age divisions in the National and American Leagues. The Hall of Fame Inductee Awards only goes to groups competing in the American League. Winners of this award are inducted into the online Hall of Fame, with the video of their performance posted on the website. There is also an MVP award for the most valuable performance (the video of this performance is posted online as well), in addition to Achievement and Choreography awards. Cash prizes are reserved for winners of the Hall of Fame High Score Cash Awards and the Hall of Fame Solo Inductee Award. Be the next Hall of Fame All- Star

In every city on tour (like Hartford, CT), judges select outstanding soloists from Junior, Teen, and Senior age divisions. Hall of Fame Dance pic 2Thesechosen individuals perform in the All-Star performance at Nationals, choreographed by top industry professionals. All-Stars have the opportunity to take free choreography/convention style classes to prepare for this opening number, called The World Series of Dance.

The World Series of Dance is an evening performance scheduled on the last day of each National event. Honored dancers  should take this performance very seriously, and plan on rehearsing every day. The performance involves several styles of dance, though there is no guarantee as to what portion of the dance soloists appear in. There is no charge for to participate in the dance number, or for rehearsals; it is simply an excellent opportunity to show off  hard work and skill to an enthusiastic audience. It’s also a great chance to learn from highly trained choreographers.

Easy, breezy family operated event

The family behind Hall of Fame Dance not only recognizes, but lived through the stress that can accompany having a child compete in dance conventions. To remedy some issues, they took every step possible to make HOF Dance one less competition to worry about. For example, they don’t want anyone fearful of missing a performance, so they post a to-the-minute schedule at least one week prior to the competition date.

Finding the schedule is as easy as selecting the Regional competition your performer is registered for, and then search by city, and the schedule link will appear on the screen. Schedules can be filtered by studio, making this search process a piece of cake! To make things even better, the competitions are open to the public at no extra cost, but if people cannot make it, they can live stream the event from home! So, after printing the schedule, hop in the car or tune into the live streamed event and enjoy the free show. Once the show is over, take full advantage of the worry-free mindset to enjoy the city around you. For instance see the beauty surrounding Long Island, NY and check out the Montauk Point Lighthouse and beach.
