Plus they offer FREE videos and photos for competition entries (which is unheard of)!

Students involved in the competition have multiple opportunities to win cash prizes and amazing scholarships. NRG-izing faculty at every event on tour

Accompanying every stop on tour is an expert faculty, with years of professional experience in all aspects of the entertainment NRG Dance Project pic 1industry. If tap dancing is your forte, then meet tap dance extraordinaire Amanda Pierce. She won the solo Tap Title at the World Cup Dance Championships in Italy, leading to her “Queen of Tap” label from the Oakland Tribune and KRON TV. Her career credits include the Super Bowl and stage performances with Lenny Kravitz, Green Day, the Duke Ellington Orchestra and much more. In theatre, Pierce is a two-time award winner for her roles in “We’ll take Manhattan” and “Rodgers and Hammerstein…with Hart.” Her most recent success is the creation of the ElectroTap Scholarship program for NRG dancers, which is a huge success. When she’s not teaching cutting edge choreography at NRG, Pierce performs at Madison Square Garden in NYC with the Knicks City Dancers.

For a highly entertaining and educational class, check out Robert James Hoffman III. Hoffman is best known for his lead role in “Step Up 2 the Streets.” He also is an American Choreography award winner for his work in the film “You Got Served.” Hoffman found his love for teaching at an early age and continues to teach internationally and nationally to all ages and skill levels. Students rave about the energy and silliness he brings to every class. No one gets out of the class without working hard, yet cracking a smile or two doing it.

NRG Workshop – Convention

The NRG Convention offers classes in Jazz, Hip- Hop, Tap, Contemporary and Ballet, taught by professional teachers like the ones mentioned above. There is also a professional audition class where select dancers from every level receive scholarships! The levels include Mini, Junior, Teen/Senior, and Advanced/ Pro. The convention is great for large groups, and teachers can get in for free depending on the number of registered students. Also, your studio has the possibility of saving $100 per dancer at finals by attending a regional event.  To be eligible for this great deal, register 10 or more dancers for regionals. For a full list of NRG Dance Competition events arranged by month, please see the end of the article.

Have the NRG Experience come to you!

NRG Dance Project pic 2The NRG Experience is a new offering, giving more “NRG” than ever before. NRG faculty members visit individual studios, providing a more intimate experience. Each visit is customizable, designed to improve problem areas and promote growth. Packages include sample schedules for 2-5 days, depending on preference. Packages also include the cost for all travel arrangements for the NRG staff.  At every event, NRG Dance Project choose 2 scholarship recipients from each level. Also, teachers can receive up to $1,500 in studio credit towards NRG Convention registration.

Studios can select specialty classes to add into their schedules for an additional charge. For example, there’s a question and answer session with NRG faculty members, or an Audition Class. In the Audition Class every dancer does a mock audition and receives tips and feedback. If improv is what the studio needs, sign up for the Improv class. There is also an option called Choreo Cleaning for studios looking to have their choreography tuned and ready for the stage. However many days or specialty classes you choose, this experience is well worth it and beneficial for every dancer.

NRG Unplugged

NRG Unplugged gives dancers the chance to focus on dance and nothing else. This one day event involves no auditions or competitions, just 6 classes in jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop. The day usually begins around 9 AM and ends around 3 PM, with breaks included. Previous participants comment on the relief they felt knowing the day was free from cut-throat competition. All that is needed is focus and willingness to learn new choreography.

A-maz-ing NRG scholarships

All NRG Dance Project Scholarships are awarded at the closing show of every regional event. Winners become part of an elite group of dancers chosen nationwide by the NRG faculty. This group is called to perform in the “NRGies” closing show at Nationals (located in New Orleans, LA and Tuscon, AZ) broadcast on NRG TV. The scholarship offerings are unreal, giving winner’s prizes such as free tuition to Regionals, faculty assistance programs, and professional auditions. You won’t want to miss out on these fantastic opportunities, so head to Salt Lake City, UT, or any of the other stops on tour, and claim your scholarship!

The mission of NRG Dance Project is to bring a fun environment to an educational event, while improving the lives of every dancer they come in contact with. NRG must be fulfilling this promise because their reviews provide nothing but positive feedback. Take this one for example from a studio director, “I think my favorite part is that each teacher that steps into the room wants to be there! They are focused and positive, engage with the students and offer corrections to individuals. I feel like their message is about the love of dance.” By offering conventions and competitions, NRG caters to blood thirsty competitors and education seeking performers. Additionally, NRG acknowledges and rewards dancers from every age and skill level, making every dream (big and small) attainable.
