Huntington Beach Sports Complex – Photo Ops

Huntington Beach Sports Complex, a 45-acre facility, is a fantastic destination for any event. When it first opened, the State of California awarded Huntington Beach Sports Complex the Best Design and Best New Recreation Facility awards.

Athletes will soak up plenty of California sunshine while playing on one of the complex’s eight softball fields, seven soccer fields, two artificial-turf fields, or their arena-turf field. The Huntington Beach Sports Complex is an award-winning facility, so you know it’s going to be well-kept and more than ready to host your event.

While you’re in the area though, don’t limit yourself to just Huntington Beach Sports Complex. Make sure to set aside some time to explore one of California’s most beautiful cities.

Huntington, California, earned the nickname “Surf City” for its miles of beaches and ideal surfing conditions. The city has also earned multiple accolades from publications around the country. In 2018, USA Today named Huntington Beach the “Best California Beach.” The Telegraph voted it “The Ultimate Beach” and WalletHub ranked it one of the “Top 10 Happiest Cities in America.”

With all these impressive awards in mind, you can imagine how many visitors Huntington has attracted. And with tourists come Instagram posts. If you’re visiting the area and are not sure where to capture some great pictures, follow our handy guide below! It will take you all around Huntington Beach to some of the best photo opportunities.

Huntington City Beach

Huntington Beach Sports Complex

Of course, Huntington’s eight-plus miles of sandy beaches are the perfect place to take some outstanding photos. Beautiful palm trees make the perfect backdrop, and lifeguard stands are a classic photo op as well. Surfers slide all over the waves, making it easy to capture some action shots. And as you could imagine, Huntington City Beach is especially photogenic when the sun sets.

In addition to the beach, Huntington Beach Pier is an iconic location. The pier extends 1,850 feet out over the ocean, providing picturesque views. This local landmark is one of the longest public piers on the West Coast. There is also an adorable restaurant at the end of the pier, with its red roof standing out against the bright blue California sky.

Welcome to Pacific City Mural

The Welcome to Pacific City Mural on 1st Street in Huntington is the perfect place to snap a photo. This colorful creation features a pastel color scheme of yellow, orange, cranberry, and blue. These calm colors along with a flowing design reflect the easygoing nature of the area.

The mural also features Huntington Beach Pier stretching across the colorful sunset. At the top of the mural is a smiling sun. Depictions of flowers, sailboats, and a pelican are also included on the mural, next to the “Welcome to Pacific City” message.

This mural creates an attention-grabbing backdrop for vacation photos, so stop by and commemorate your trip to Pacific City!

Pizza Wings at Cruisers Pizza Bar Grill

What may seem like an average pizza joint is actually a popular photo op destination in the Huntington Beach area. Cruisers Pizza Bar Grill near 5th and Walnut Street in Huntington Beach attracts visitors with its “Pizza Wings.” Outside the restaurant are two outstretched wings shaped like slices of pizza. By standing between the two slices, it seems as if you’ve grown two cheesy, pepperoni-covered wings.

Many visitors stop by Cruisers Pizza Bar Grill to get a picture with mural; check out their photos by searching #PizzaWings on Instagram. This is the perfect photo opportunity for any pizza lover visiting Huntington Beach Sports Complex.

Secret Garden

Huntington Sports ComplexWhile not necessarily a secret, the Secret Garden in Huntington’s Central Park is a perfect place to stop for a photo op. Not only is it a serene place to enjoy the natural beauty of California, but also a place to capture some beautiful pictures.

There are stone-lined paths and peaceful ponds surrounded by drought-resistant trees and shrubs. If you time your visit to Huntington Beach Sports Complex correctly, you may even be able to capture photos of beautiful cherry blossoms in bloom. You never know what gorgeous shots await you in the Secret Garden.

World’s Largest Surfboard

What’s a more perfect photo opportunity than a record-breaking surfboard? Huntington Beach is called Surf City, after all.

On International Surfing Day in 2015, Huntington Beach spearheaded the effort to solidify their status as “Surf City” by debuting a 42-foot-long surfboard. A total of 66 people piled onto the board, and were able to ride a wave for a total of 12 seconds. Not only did this break the record for world’s largest surfboard, but for most people surfing on a board at once.

Now, visitors to Huntington Beach can get a picture with the World’s Largest Surfboard. You can’t miss it, as the enormous board is attached to the outside of the International Surfing Museum.

The Bungalow

The Bungalow is unlike any other bar you’ve been to before, making it a fantastic photo op. This beachside watering hole offers incredible views of the ocean and has string lights adorning its spacious outdoor area. The Bungalow also features a tree growing in the middle of its patio, decorated with ornate antique lanterns.

Inside The Bungalow is a cozy area reminiscent of a living room in someone’s house. Guests can relax on big plush couches with a fresh drink. Luxurious carpets and a brick fireplace fill the room as well. Across the room is a pool table, with a chandelier hanging right above it. Here you’ll feel welcomed and right at home.

Around every corner of The Bungalow is a photogenic, Instagram-worthy shot just waiting to be captured. Because of this, it’s a must-visit for those looking for the perfect photo op.

As you can see, there is much more to Huntington than just the beach. While Huntington City Beach is among the most beautiful beaches in the country, it’s just the tip of the photo op iceberg. Expect to take lots more than just sports photos during you visit to Huntington Beach Sports Complex!
