New Jersey’s most notable zoo, Turtle Back Zoo, is a must see while you and your team are in the Newark area. Located in West Orange, NJ, Turtle Back Zoo is well worth the 20 minute trip from Newark. With over 21 exhibits and 30 different species, this zoo will surprise you with its diverse collection of animals. Observe sea lions playing, sea turtles elegantly swimming, penguins waddling, jaguars acting ferociously, and much more. Zoo admission is inexpensive, and they have group rates. Treetop Adventure Course
After being inspired by the monkeys at the zoo, swinging on vines and making tree climbing look easy, check out Treetop Adventure Course. Constructed right next to Turtle Back Zoo, Treetop Adventure Course allows you to climb, swing, and jump until your heart is content. Visitors of Treetop Adventure Course do not need to pay for zoo admission before entering. The adventure course is affiliated with Turtle Back Zoo, but exists as its own attraction. Climbers have the option of three courses to choose from: Junior Course, Adult Course, or Zip Line. The junior course consist of 15 elements and takes anywhere from a half hour to 45 minutes to complete. Monster Mini Golf
The farthest attraction from Newark included on this list, Monster Mini Golf of Fairfield, New Jersey is only a half hour away. Monster Mini Golf puts a spooky spin on traditional mini golf. You can’t depend on your eyes as much as you’d like to get your glow in the dark ball in the hole, because the entire course is under black lights. Each of the 18 holes has its own monsters and scary obstacles that will try to add strokes to your score; it’s up to you to overcome them. Besides mini golf, your team can also enjoy an arcade that includes a nice mix of classic arcade games like Skeeball, air hockey, and Pacman, and more modern games. Bane Haunted House and Escape Room
A terrifying mix of haunted house and escape room, Bane Haunted House and Escape Room is sure to give your team a scare. The haunted house was named, “scariest haunted house in New Jersey”, according to The Star Ledger, New Jersey’s largest online newspaper. Bane Haunted House employs over 70 actors that are trained to have you screaming at the top of your lungs. Unlike other haunted houses, Bane makes you climb up and over obstacles, push objects, and spin things around. It brings haunted houses to the next level. The escape room portion has two different rooms that you and your team can attempt; both can only fit up to eight people at a time.
